New Station #6 Opens!!!

After many years of planning, today Sumner County EMS, Sumner EMA and the Portland Fire Department moved into this new wonderful facility. This project was a joint effort between the 3 public safety agencies to improve services for citizens and working conditions for employees. Sumner EMS operations include all EMS resources for the Portland area of the county – Station #6. Portland Fire Department will be utilizing this facility as their south station – Fire Hall #2. SCEMS visits Portland East Middle

Portland East Middle School May 15, 2016 A big thanks to Brent Dyer, Deputy Chief of Training with Sumner County EMS, who came to Mrs. Clark’s 8th grade science class on Monday to talk with students about the use of science and math in the emergency medical field. Miles for Memories

The Gallatin News SHERRY MITCHELL May 11, 2017 It can be hard to lose a loved one, but one county employee is taking steps to help those in hospice enjoy those last moments and help their families create lasting memories by providing a free transport and one-hour outing anywhere in Sumner County. Called Miles for Memories, the program was the brainchild of Sumner EMS medic and instructor Marie Blevins, but after her unexpected death in 2013, the program stalled, and was forgotten about. Now paramedic Jessica Nuckols has taken the reigns to renew the program for area hospice patients....
