The Gallatin News SHERRY MITCHELL May 11, 2017 It can be hard to lose a loved one, but one county employee is taking steps to help those in hospice enjoy those last moments and help their families create lasting memories by providing a free transport and one-hour outing anywhere in Sumner County. Called Miles for Memories, the program was the brainchild of Sumner EMS medic and instructor Marie Blevins, but after her unexpected death in 2013, the program stalled, and was forgotten about. Medical Director addition

Sumner County EMS is pleased to announce the affiliation of Dr. Duane Harrison as Co-Medical Director. Dr. Harrison has served this community for years as an emergency room physician at Hendersonville Medical Center and Portland Medical Center ER. Dr. Harrison will partner with long time Sumner EMS Medical Director Dr. Ray Pinkson, an emergency physician with Sumner Regional Medical Center. Dr. Pinkston has served Sumner County as EMS Medical Director and the county’s Medical Examiner since 1997. Both of these gentlemen bring an impressive experience in their emergency medicine expertise to the table.
